What is a Persian cat, and how is an Exotic Shorthair different?
A Persian is a longhaired purebred cat with a round head, a short muzzle, large round eyes and a dense double coat that needs daily brushing. An Exotic Shorthair is the same cat in a short plush coat: identical build, identical calm temperament, roughly ten minutes less grooming a day. We breed both, from the same lines.

Quiet, low energy companion cats that want to be in the room with you rather than on top of the cupboards. The practical difference is the coat: a Persian needs combing every day, an Exotic Shorthair two or three times a week.

How it works
How do you reserve a kitten from us?
Message us to say which kitten you want, then place a $300 deposit to reserve them. The deposit is non refundable but transferable to another kitten in a later litter. The balance is paid when you collect your kitten at 12 to 14 weeks old, either in person or at Portland airport.

How much does a Persian kitten cost at Exotic Stars Cattery?
Our Persian and Exotic Shorthair kittens cost between $1,700 and $2,000. The price depends on the kitten's color, coat and overall show quality. A $300 deposit reserves your kitten and the balance is due when you collect them.
Where is Exotic Stars Cattery located?
We are a home cattery in Vancouver, Washington, about fifteen minutes north of Portland, Oregon. Because the cattery is inside our home, we share the exact address once a visit is scheduled. Most of our families drive in from the Portland metro, Clark County and the wider Pacific Northwest.
Are your kittens registered?
How old are kittens when they go home?
Kittens leave for their new homes at 12 to 14 weeks of age. By then they have had their first two vaccinations, have been de-wormed, and are fully litter trained. Letting them stay with their mother and littermates through week twelve is what produces a confident, well socialized cat.
